Engineers Lead the Way

Please join us in congratulating ControlTek President Andy LaFrazia, who retired from the U.S. Air Force last month after 30 years of both active and reserve duty. Lieutenant Colonel Andy LaFrazia was honored in a service held at Joint Base Lewis-McChord June 3, 2017.

The upcoming panel event from the Business Growth MAP Alliance, an organization based at Washington State University Vancouver, is part of a forum this month to discuss workplace culture as part of companies' strategic vision.

A Wellness Program that Works for Employees

When ControlTek leadership began work on the creation of a new employee wellness program back in 2012, we knew the road towards better health and quality of life for our employees would depend on our ability to make a longterm commitment.

So we committed.  

ControlTek invites you to join us in welcoming our new test engineer, Dennis Griffin.

A 28-year veteran of the electronics testing industry, Dennis has spent much of his career helping large-scale manufacturers like Celestica, CND, and Murata align and integrate their testing and manufacturing processes. He hopes to bring the expertise gained in those high-volume environments to meet the needs of customers and the unique product mix at ControlTek.

ControlTek is very proud to announce we have been honored as one of Oregon’s Healthiest Employers for 2016. This is ControlTek’s third time making the list, which is awarded by the Portland Business Journal each year for businesses in the Portland Metro region that are dedicated to providing a healthier workplace for employees throughout the year.

Back in college at Oregon State University, I knew I would likely put my freshly minted Engineering skills to good use when I returned to my family’s business at ControlTek. It did not immediately occur to me, however, just how much the other skills I was absorbing--first as an ROTC scholarship recipient and later during both active and reserve duty as a Civil Engineer Officer in the United States Air Force--would inform and influence my role as President of ControlTek.

As VP of HR, I have always believed the strength of ControlTek’s company culture has been a major driver in our ability to meet the needs of our customers and reach success as an organization.

However I also want to rely on more than just my gut feeling.

I needed to find a way to measure the impact our culture has on our business strategy, our employees, and our customers. I also hoped to expose the areas of our culture that still need improvement, so we can shine light into the shadows and continue our journey as a company.
